This is a project I developed over the course of my fall 2024 semester while studying away in NYC. I wanted to make something relevant to my interests in gaming, while also preforming well as an art piece.
Into The Light is the result of that goal, which ideally I'd like to continue developing. All updates made to this project will be accessible here.

It is said that far away from the inhabited parts of the planet, where the air grows cold and the mountains curl against the weight of the sky, the world ends. Nothing grows, lives, or even dies there. Something about the nature of its existence can save those who find it, and uncover its true form.
This is the myth of The Edge Of The World. One that was told many times throughout the world of The Pale Planes, as well as to our main character.
Contained to the surrounding area, the player takes control of Ramus on their investigation of this myth, though their slowly decaying body makes it quickly insurmountable. However, after uncovering a passageway to an underground necropolis, secrets are discovered, and an opportunity is presented. A solution to Ramus’ dilemma. A cure. Though at the cost of a promise to help a spirit named Esh who, once agreed to, shelters within Ramus in exchange for an able body.
Throughout the course of the game, the player is able to explore the world with the assistance of those they meet along the way, along with researching what became of the people who once lived in the ruins, and how they met their end. Only once unearthing the answers to these questions does the player discover another side to Esh and its promise. Moreover, why it desires to reach the Ascension Gate, and what might Ramus lose if it does.
With puzzles, collection, and character-driven story mechanics for the player to explore, Into the Light explores the facets of disability and identity with a sense of whimsy while also allowing for an introspective tale in the world of The Pale Planes.
